Coffee, and more specifically caffeine, is associated with alertness, improving the processing speed of the brain. Second, bitter and dark chocolate is associated with improved learning abilities and better performances during complex mental tasks. The flavonoids that are absorbed when chocolate is consumed penetrate and accumulate in the brain regions involved in learning and memory, especially the hippocampus. These flavonoids increase blood flow to the brain, promote the formation of new neurons, improve the functioning of existing neurons, enhance connections between them, and protect them from death caused by free radicals. To help you improve you mental performance and enjoy these ingredients we created a cocktail out of a rich Cuban coffee liquor, vodka and a delicate bitter of Aztec chocolate. 

The widespread use of concentrated extracts from plants, mainly herbs and spices, for medicinal purposes and immune system boosts is well known. Plants which are high in bitters often contain many antioxidant phytochemicals, which are associated with creating resilience in the immune system. Often these extracts come with strong but refined bitter flavors, and because of this, they also have been introduced in the world of mixology to add a specific flavor edge to drinks. We combine the bitter, herbal liquor Campari with red vermouth and topped it off with a few drops of orange bitters, a play on the iconic Italian cocktail, the Negroni.

Green tea is traditionally known to induce mental clarity, cognitive function, physical activation and relaxation. Recently, a special green tea, matcha tea, is rapidly gaining popularity throughout the world and is frequently referred to as a mood and brain food. Matcha tea consumption leads to much higher intake of green tea phyto-chemicals compared to regular green tea. The photo-chemical L-theanine alone improved relaxation, tension, and calmness. Additionally, green tea and therefore matcha, is very high in beneficial anti-oxidants. Additionally, ginger and honey are reported to have anti-inflammatory effects. By combining these ingredients we created the Kyoto Spring, helping you to get some calmness while improving your mental performances and boost your immune system.

Kombucha is a fermented beverage consisting of black or green tea and sugar (from various sources, including cane sugar, fruit or honey) that’s used as a functional, probiotic food. It contains a colony of bacteria whom are known as “cellulose-producing bacteria,” meaning they produce cellulose, which acts as a shield to the cells of your intestines. A healthy gut supports a balanced immune system and reduces food intolerences. This gut-repairing function also plays a role in mental health. Depression, for example, may be a major symptom of ‘leaky gut’. We created a refreshing, well-balanced non-alcoholic cocktail by combining Blood Orange & Bergamot kombucha with various spices like black pepper, cardamom and fennel seeds and a few dashes of angostura bitter.
